World number one Novak Djokovic will bypass Serbia's Davis Cup World Group play-off tie with India, starting Friday.
Djokovic was originally in Bogdan Obradovic's four-man squad bound for Bangalore, where they are expected to win their way back into the World Group for 2015.
Obradovic said Djokovic cited "fatigue" along with the conditions in the Indian city with "high humidity and high altitude" affecting the decision, according to Novosti.rs.
Djokovic was a surprise loser in the US Open semi-finals in September, going down to Japan's Kei Nishikori in four sets.
The likely replacement for the seven-time major winner is world number 171 Ilija Bozoljac.
Dusan Lajovic, the number two Serb, and Filip Krajinovic - the number three - are already in India with Bozoljac preparing for the hard-court tie.
India's likely singles representatives will be Somdev Devvarman and Yuki Bhambri, ranked 144th and 153rd respectively.
