Reggie Wayne will continue his storied NFL career with one of the Indianapolis Colts' biggest rivals.
The New England Patriots have signed wide receiver Reggie Wayne.
Wayne had previously spent his entire 14-year NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts, helping them two Super Bowl appearances and one victory, before becoming a free agent following last season.
He was officially confirmed as a Patriots player by the reigning Super Bowl champions on Tuesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed but it has been reported the parties had agreed to a one-year deal.
The 36-year-old ranks seventh in receptions in NFL history with 1,070 and eighth in receiving yards with 14,345 to his name.
Wayne has also scored 82 touchdowns in his career and was a 1,000-yard receiver for seven consecutive seasons from 2004-10.
Despite suffering an anterior cruciate ligament tear in 2013 and posting just one 1,000-yard campaign in the last four seasons, Wayne has long since stressed his desire to play at least one more season and now he has a shot with a team that knows him well.
Wayne has faced the Patriots 16 times in his career, including four times in the playoffs. His most recent encounter with New England came in the Colts' 45-7 defeat at the hands of Bill Belichick's men in last season's AFC Championship Game.
