MLB Royals keep winning, Red Sox stay tied in MLB

The Kansas City Royals extended their winning streak in MLB, while the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox stayed tied in the AL East.

The Kansas City Royals extended their winning streak in MLB, while the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox stayed tied in the American League East.

Yordano Ventura pitched six strong innings as the Royals made it nine straight wins, edging the Miami Marlins 1-0 on Tuesday.

The Red Sox edged the Tampa Bay Rays 2-1 to stay tied with the Blue Jays, who crushed the Los Angeles Angels 7-2 to remain level in the race for the AL East title.

At Target Field the Detroit Tigers were 8-3 victors over the Minnesota Twins, the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Colorado Rockies 6-4 and the Cincinnati Reds shut out the Texas Rangers 3-0.

There were no problems for the Baltimore Orioles in an 8-1 win over the Washington Nationals, the Pittsburgh Pirates easily beat the Houston Astros 7-1 and the Los Angeles Dodgers got the better of the San Francisco Giants 9-5.

The Atlanta Braves rallied past the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-4, the New York Mets had an important 7-4 win over the St Louis Cardinals and the Chicago White Sox comfortably beat the Philadelphia Phillies 9-1.

The New York Yankees claimed a 5-1 win over the Seattle Mariners, the Chicago Cubs held on to beat the San Diego Padres 5-3 and the Oakland Athletics thrashed the Cleveland Indians 9-1.



Pirates outfielder Gregory Polanco and starting pitcher Ivan Nova helped the Pirates beat the Astros. Polanco bashed two solo home runs, finishing the game with three hits, three RBIs and three runs scored. Nova tossed a complete game, allowing just one run and one walk while striking out six. He improved to 3-0 since joining the the Pirates before the July 31 trade deadline.

After placing starting pitchers Scott Kazmir and Brett Anderson on the disabled list, the Dodgers tied an MLB record with 27 different players on the DL this season. Luckily, it appears Clayton Kershaw is nearing a return after tossing another successful bullpen session Tuesday.



Baltimore are locked in a tight race to win the AL East, while Washington have all but wrapped up the National League East. Wade Miley (7-10, 5.58 ERA) will take the mound for the Orioles to face off against Tanner Roark (13-6, 2.87 ERA).
