Marco Estrada secured the win for the Toronto Blue Jays as he allowed just two runs in 6.2 innings to help his side to a 7-2 triumph over the Philadelphia Phillies.

Estrada was well supported by the in-form Blue Jays bats as Edwin Encarnacion homered once and scored another two to continue his brilliant form.

The Colorado Rockies got the job done with a four-run fifth inning as DJ LeMahieu, Nolan Arenado and Mark Reynolds picked up RBIs to help secure a 6-3 win over the inconsistent New York Yankees.

Scott Van Slyke's three-run homer was enough to secure 3-2 win for the Los Angeles Dodgers against the Arizona Diamondbacks, while the San Diego Padres were too good for the Miami Marlins in a 6-3 win.

There were big scores for the San Francisco Giants and the New York Mets who beat the Milwaukee Brewers 10-1 and the Pittsburgh Pirates 11-2 respectively, while the Los Angeles Angels also piled on the runs in their 10-2 demolition of the Minnesota Twins.

Wins for the Washington Nationals and the Tampa Bay Rays were much closer run things, with the former needing 12 innings to secure a 5-4 win over the Chicago Cubs and the latter requiring 13 to dispatch of the Seattle Mariners 3-2.

The Atlanta Braves also needed extra innings as they beat the Cincinnati Reds 9-8 after 13.

The Boston Red Sox were 6-4 winners over the Baltimore Orioles, the Houston Astros beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-1, the Detroit Tigers lost to the Chicago White Sox 5-3, the Kansas City Royals beat the Cleveland Indians 9-4 and the Texas Rangers triumphed over the Oakland Athletics 7-5.

Cueto is settling in nicely in San Francisco. He turned in a treat on Wednesday, with nine strikeouts and one walk while scattering seven hits and allowing just one run against the Brewers. The former Cincinnati Reds and Kansas City Royals pitcher is now 10-1 with a 2.10 ERA this season.

Encarnacion has been in full-flight for the Blue Jays this season, but his latest effort - a solo homer in the second inning of his side's 7-2 win over the Phillies - got some serious air.

Freddie Freeman was in top form on Wednesday, becoming just the seventh Brave to hit for the cycle.

Baltimore and Boston are deadlocked atop the American League East and this week's series at Fenway is about as important as a series can be in mid-June. Tyler Wilson (2.5, 4.73 ERA) will start for the Orioles while the Red Sox will give the ball to southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez (1-1, 6.06).
