The surgeon for Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant is confident the 36-year-old will make a full recovery.
Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant underwent successful surgery on Wednesday to repair his torn rotator cuff, the team announced.
The injury occurred last week during the Lakers' 96-80 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.
The surgery took about two hours and was performed by Dr Neal ElAttrache and Dr Steve Lombardo at the Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles.
"I expect Kobe to make a full recovery and if all goes as expected, he should be ready for the start of the [2015-16] season," Dr ElAttrache said.
Bryant is done for the remainder of this season but the 36-year-old has vowed to return for another season.
The veteran's expected recovery time is nine months and the 2015-16 NBA season begins in late October.
