Golf PGA: Eagle puts Paul Casey in control at TPC Boston

PGA Tour: Paul Casey has a three-shot lead heading into the final round of the Deutsche Bank Championship.

Paul Casey fought through the unpredictable wind gusts at TPC Boston on Sunday to grab a three-shot lead heading into the final round of the Deutsche Bank Championship.

Blustery weather set the leaders back early in their rounds, but conditions calmed and Casey came out firing to shoot his third consecutive five-under-par 66.

The impressive round was capped by the shot of the week.

Casey was faced with a difficult second shot on the risk-reward par-five 18th hole.

He elected to hit a buzzing long iron over the marsh that touched down just shy of the putting surface and slowly rolled to within a foot of the hole, seeing him sink an eagle.

There are a host of contenders chasing Casey, but he looks thoroughly in control of his game.

With weather looming, players will get an early start on Labor Day, as PGA Tour officials try to sneak the final round in before the storms.

Brian Harman (68) is in second place behind Casey following his three-under-par 68, followed by three men a shot behind on 11 under overall.

Smylie Kaufman (68), Jimmy Walker (70) and Kevin Chappell (71) sit in equal third, all still in contention heading into the final round.

Rory McIlroy appears too far back at nine under, while Jordan Spieth (five under), Jason Day and Dustin Johnson (four under) are further behind.
