Italy coach Jacques Brunel has named four uncapped players in his 30-man squad for the opening two matches of the Six Nations.

Zebre duo Giulio Bisegni and Michele Visentin are called up for the first time, along with Calvisano scrum-half Marcellon Violi.

Benetton Treviso wing Simone Ragusi completes the untested quartet, but has been an unused member of Brunel's squad during the November internationals.

And Brunel is hoping the new faces can make the most of their opportunity to shine with the World Cup to come later in the year.

"The tournament is the last real opportunity to test some young players who are proving to have interesting qualities in Pro12 or, as in the case of Violi, at the top of the Italian top division," he said.

"For them it is an exciting opportunity to demonstrate their value in the year of the Rugby World Cup."

Mauro Bergamasco and Giovanbattista Venditti return to the fold after missing the November Tests through injury.

"Mauro Bergamasco and Venditti, who has recently returned from injury, are two athletes with solid international experience, who can be of great help to the group in the weekly difficulties which await us," he added.

"We didn't get to see them on the pitch in November against Samoa, Argentina and South Africa, and now is the moment to test their condition at the highest level."

Italy begin their campaign at home to reigning champions Ireland on February 7, before heading to Twickenham to take on England.
