After finishing second last year, Wiggins was triumphant in the time trial event at the UCI Road World Championships in Ponferrada, northern Spain on Wednesday.
Wiggins " the 2012 Tour de France champion " crossed the line 26.23 seconds quicker than German opponent Tony Martin.
"That really was impressive, especially going up against someone like Tony Martin," said Froome, who is preparing for Great Britain's road-race event on Sunday.
"He is the benchmark in time-trialling, having won the world title for the past three years. That was very, very impressive by Brad and congratulations to him."
Froome and Wiggins have not enjoyed the best of relationships in recent times.
Tensions have been high since Wiggins was omitted from Sky's Tour de France roster in 2014, with some reports suggesting Froome influenced team director Dave Brailsford.
Froome once again denied he played a role in Sky's decision to overlook Wiggins.
"It is easy to look back now and suggest that things should have been done differently, but as Sir Dave said in June and even now, he made the decision on what he thought was the best, strongest team and he stands by his decision," he said.
We have a really strong team of riders. Richie Porte had been climbing better than anyone on the team before the Tour and was sitting second overall when he suffered a chest infection.
Sometimes, despite your best efforts, things just don't work out and you can simply learn from it and move on. It wasn't our year this year, but we are already preparing for 2015 and know what we are capable of."
