Wilfried Zaha says he never met the daughter of David Moyes, crushing internet rumours that he had sex with her

Wilfried Zaha

Former Manchester United forward Wilfried Zaha has denied rumours that he slept the daughter of David Moyes who managed the club between 2003 and 2004.

The forward joined was signed by Manchester United in January 2013 as the last signing by Sir Alex Ferguson before he retired.

The forward was sent back to Crystal Palace in the Championship on loan and returned to United for pre-season in the summer of 2013 with Moyes now as coach.

Zaha however said he was ignored by Moyes.

Internet rumours crept up that he slept with the daughter of the then Manchester United manager, Lauren which made Moyes not to like him.

But Zaha denied that, saying he never met the girl.

“The thing that really frustrated me about the whole United thing was the fact that people didn't know what actually went on at the training ground,” Zaha told Daily Mail in an exclusive interview.

“There were just a load of rumours that used to just come out somehow and people would believe them.

“It was either I slept with David Moyes's daughter or I have got a bad attitude. Those are the two rumours that stuck with me until I left. I have had no say since then.

Zaha who now plays for Crystal Palace says he does not understand why he was not given a chance at Oold Trafford.

“I think I did OK in pre-season, won a man of the match, but as soon as Moyes came he said I wasn't ready for the Premier League,” he said.

“I didn't really understand it. I never got a response really.

“The only thing that I could think of was the bad game against Wigan in the Community Shield.

“It stresses me out if I mess up. I beat myself up. But I just thought, ‘You have seen me play in pre-season, you have seen that I am at least decent enough to score a goal or something’. From there, he just stopped playing me.”
