Barcelona end the season with defeat to Villarreal at Camp Nou
Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez made some rotations to the team he put out for the final fixture of the campaign.
Barcelona aimed to finish the season on a high in front of their fans at Camp Nou but Villarreal had other ideas.
In the 41st minute Alfonso Pedraza converted a ball through to him by Dani Parejo to give Villarreal the lead which they took to the halftime break.

The victory meant that Villarreal finished seventh this season and secured European football next season while Barcelona stay second despite the defeat.
Reactions to defeat
Speaking after the game, winter signing Dani Alves stated that he want to return to Barcelona next season.
The Brazilian also gave insight on what the club must do to return to the top next season,
He said, "My wish is to stay at Barça but it is not up to me so I will continue to fight to continue. Until the 30th of June I am a player of the club, I will give my best to the club, to the badge and the fans.”
“We have to think about how we can improve and come back stronger next season with a new mentality. Barça must be in the top position.”
Ronald Araújo added, "We wanted to finish well and give joy to the fans, who throughout the season supported us in the games until the end. We were unlucky in conceding today."
