Shehu's Fate Not Yet Sealed: Club Confirms Kuwait Deal Is Still On

Abdullahi Shehu's fate yet to be decided as negotiations continue

The end may not have been heard about the transfer move of Nigerian midfielder Shehu Abdullahi to any of the clubs interested in his services.

According to a Nigerian sports site SL10, the player has rejected the offers of Arabian clubs Al Orubah and Al Qadsia by opting for Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon.

further reports have it that Saudi club Al Orubah and Kuwait side Al Qadsia offered a better wage package than the Portuguese side but the 2013 CHAN player opted for Europe with the intention to improve his chances with the national team, The Super Eagles.

However, direct sources contradict this report:

Speaking exclusively with the Media Officer of Kano Pillars, Idris Malikawa, said that the Kuwait offer was still intact.

Idris said as the last time they chatted with the player who is presently out of the country, that the player confirmed he was still in talks with the Gulf club and could be heading to the oil rich country of Kuwait if negotiations pull through.

In addition, a Portuguese source yesterday told that the player had told them that he would not be signing with Sporting Lisbon.

The 21 year-old’s next destination is yet unknown, however, the club management has reiterated that it has given the player the go ahead to discuss with potential clubsides whilst informing them before any agreement is made.
