At just 18-year-old, Tim Weah played his first match for the senior team of the USA as they defeated Paraguay 1-0 in a friendly match on Tuesday, March 27.

Tim Weah played his first match for US national team in a 1-0 win over Paraguay.
The son of the 1995 World Player of the Year became the first player given birth to from 2000 upwards to represent the senior team of the USA.
Tim who was part of the USA team to the stated after the match that he has always wanted to play for the U.S senior team.
He said,"This is what I've been waiting for my whole life. I'm really appreciative of the chance that the coaching staff has given me, and I'm hoping that I get more call-ups."
The young forward had earlier made his debut for French side Paris Saint-Germain against Troyes on Saturday, March 3.
Tim made his debut when he was introduced in the 86th minute while the USA was leading through a penalty kick converted by Bobby Wood.
Upon being called up to the USA national team there was some backlash on Tim’s social media pages, as some expected him to represent Liberia like his father did.
Tim posted on his official Twitter account to express happiness with his first appearance for the national team.
He said, “So much negativity in the air but I'm so proud to be representing my country ❤️ ....Through thick and thin.”
Tim and his USA teammates will not be competing at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, as interim coach Dave Sarachan continues to take charge of the team ahead of the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup which will be hosted in the USA.
