Swedish club, club Kalmar FF get 120M from forward’s move to Liverpool

Swedish clubside, Kalmar have received the sum of £400,000 (N120m) in compensation over the transfer of Nigeria U-23 international Taiwo Awoniyi to Liverpool.

Awoniyi moved to Liverpool in August and has been loaned to German side FSV Frankfurt.

Kalmar who had the right of first refusal if Awoniyi was to join a foreign club having signed an agreement with Imperial Academy that would have been triggered when the striker attained the age of majority.

Seyi Olofinjana who discovered Awoniyi at a Coca-Cola football competition in London and Imperial Academy went back on the agreement reached and agreed a deal with Liverpool.

Kalmar threatened to take the case to FIFA but have been compensated with the sum of £400,000.
