Lampard is one of the greatest midfielders ever but he lists one reason why he never wants to play against Iwobi
Iwobi has been in fine form for Everton since the turn of the year, coinciding with Lampard's arrival to Goodison Park as Everton's manager.
The Super Eagles midfielder has already contributed four (4) assists in just nine (9) matches for the Toffees this season, in one of his most productive spells ever.
Iwobi runs and runs - Lampard
Being a formidable and goal-scoring midfielder himself during his playing days, Lampard admitted that he would not have wanted to play against Iwobi because of his relentless running on the pitch.
The Chelsea record goalscorer now turned manager reiterated Iwobi's importance to the Everton team, harping on the Super Eagles star's versatility and consistency so far.
Lampard told The Times: "He is playing with incredible consistency. He did a lot for us last season, played some games at No 8 and I really liked him. It suited his talent, in terms of strength and quality of pass.
“He has so many talents. I would not like to have played against him as a midfield player. He can run and run.”
Iwobi has been involved in three (3) goals in his past four matches, with the 26-year-old scoring a long-range goal in Nigeria's recent friendly match against the home-based Algerian national team on September 23.
The Everton midfielder will hope to help the Toffees continue a seven-game undefeated run in the league when they host embattled Manchester United on Sunday, October 9.
