Details of the transfer that took Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers from KRC Genk to US Cremonese have come to light in the weeks after the deal was completed.

In an exposé following the closure of the Belgian transfer window, top agent Stijn Francis, who facilitated Dessers' transfer, has revealed some of the terms of the deal.

Dessers was in the transfer rumours section for a long time this summer with the Nigerian international being linked with numerous clubs including Monza, Sevilla, and FC Copenhagen.

The former Feyenoord striker earlier said that made sure his next transfer would be to one of the Top 5 European leagues, hence his move to the Italian Serie A.

Additionally, Stijn has now revealed that Dessers wanted assurances that he would be the first-choice striker wherever he moves to. An assurance that Cremonese presumably gave him before the Nigerian international signed with them.

As reported by Belgian news outlet Sporza, Stijn said: "Cyriel told us that after his top scorer title in the Conference League, he still had one dream: to play in a top league.

"He had already experienced great things, but now he wanted to do everything he could to end up in the Serie A, Bundesliga, Primera Division or Premier League.

"Several clubs have been spoken to. Cremonese is a smaller club in Italy, which may be a relegation candidate, but a club in a top league where Cyriel is candidate number one in striker."

Stijn further suggested that Dessers might have had offers from other clubs but he might not be first-choice there so he chose to go with Cremonese where he now seems to be enjoying his football.

"If we had waited even longer, maybe other clubs would come knocking, but there he might be plan B or plan C. Now he has the chance to play every week and I see that he enjoys that. Cyriel has chosen his dream and I think that is beautiful," Stijn concluded.
