US Cremonese striker David Okereke has pointed out the similarities between him and Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen.

Both Nigerian-born strikers, Okereke and Osimhen are set to lead the line for their respective clubs as the 2022/23 Serie A season gets underway again this weekend.

Okereke was on loan at Italian club Venezia last season but with the Venice-based club suffering immediate relegation back to Serie B, Okereke joined another Serie A newcomer Cremonese on a permanent deal this summer.

Comparisons have been made in the media about the two Nigerian strikers and Okereke believes that these are not far off as he identified some features that he shares with Osimhen.

The Cremonese striker told Gazzetta Dello Sport as reported by CalcioCremonese that one of the major features he shares with Osimhen is speed.

Okereke said: "I like attacking the depth, but with Mr. Alvini and my teammates we are also trying to improve other aspects to be more unpredictable.

"I similar to Osimhen? We have in common the speed and the rapidity of the movements."

The 24-year-old forward went on to expatiate on some of the lessons he learned while playing for Venezia during the 2021/22 season, stressing that maintaining high concentration levels is key.

"Last season he made me understand that in Serie A you must always keep your concentration high, trying to learn from mistakes. The mental aspect is important, perhaps even more than the technical one," Okereke said.

The former Club Brugge striker played a total of 32 Serie A matches for Venezia last season, bagging seven (7) goals and one (1) assist in all competitions.
