Super Eagles will win - Egwuekwe
Egwuekwe, who has been capped 35 times by the national team, reposed his faith in the Super Eagles, stating that the team have been playing better under the new manager Peseiro.
The current Rivers United centre-back told PUNCH Sports Extra that he would also like to see the introduction of some of the new players following the absence of some key players due to injury.
Egwuekwe said: "Of course, the Eagles can win; they are playing well under the new coach (Peseiro). But you know, Algeria is a very strong side, however, as a Nigerian, I have to support my country. I believe we are going to come out victorious.
"Of course, the Algerians have been doing so well in recent times; they’re on a winning streak, so all I want to see is the introduction of the few new players in the team so we can access how good they are."
Iwobi will be the game-changer - Egwuekwe
Egwuekwe also pinpointed Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi as the most likely Super Eagles player to be the 'game changer' in the friendly against Algeria.
The Rivers United centre-back noted that Iwobi's impressive start to the Premier League season makes him the prime candidate to deliver the goods for Peseiro's men.
"We have a lot of talents in Nigeria, but, for me, at this moment, Alex Iwobi will be the game changer," Egwuekwe said.
"Because he has been in top form since the beginning of this season in the Premier League. I believe that if he starts, he is going to make a difference for the team.”
Iwobi was one of the goalscorers in the 2-2 draw against Algeria's B Team on Friday, cancelling out Algeria's first-half lone goal lead with a long-range effort in the second half.
