Calvin Bassey will dig into his strengths as he seeks to bounce back from a debut red card at Ajax
Bassey was red-carded just 16 minutes into his Ajax debut after the Nigerian international came on as a 62nd-minute substitute in Saturday's Johan Cruyff Shield encounter with PSV Eindhoven.
The 22-year-old would be hoping to bounce back with the Dutch Eredivisie side after completing a £22m transfer from Scottish side Rangers this summer.
Calvin Bassey showed good signs on his debut - Muhren
As reported by Daily Record, Muhren backed Calvin Bassey to bounce back from his unfortunate start to life at Ajax stating that he saw some encouraging signs during the time the Nigerian international was on the pitch.
Muhren, who also played for Manchester United, highlighted that the Super Eagles defender is an organiser, which is a good thing to have in the Ajax defence.
Muhren said: "Although Calvin Bassey was sent off, in his short time on the pitch I saw encouraging sights. He organises and points, which is a good sign."
Muhren lists Calvin Bassey's qualities
The Ajax legend also suggested that Bassey already has the Ajax DNA, being comfortable with playing with the ball at his feet as well as being strong on the ground and sound in the air.
"He shows that he dares to play football and that is what Ajax is asking. He is physically strong and I suspect good in the air too," Muhren concluded.
Calvin Bassey shone during an impressive 2021/22 season at Rangers, helping the Scottish giants win the 2021/22 Scottish Cup as well as reaching the final of the 2021/22 UEFA Europa League.
On a personal note, Bassey was selected for the 2021/22 Scottish Premiership Team of the Year and the 2021/22 UEFA Europa League Team of the Year.
