HUGE BLOW! Super Eagles quartet Emmanuel Dennis, Osimhen, Balogun, and Shehu Abdullahi out of AFCON2021

Nigeria's Super Eagles will be in Cameroon without the important quartet

Nigeria's national football team the Super Eagles will travel to Cameroon for the AFCON2021 without the quartet of Emmanuel Dennis, Victor Osimhen, Leon Balogun, and Shehu Abdullahi.

All four players have been replaced with Henry Onyekuru, Peter Olayinka, Tyronne Ebuehi, and Semi Ajayi, according to the updated list of the 28-man squad revealed by the official Super Eagles account on Social media.

England-based Dennis has been barred from joining the Super Eagles due to club-related issues, after reports that his invitation arrived late according to his club manager, Claudio Raineri.

The in-form 24-year-old has been impressive for the Hornets, scoring eight goals and assisting five others in just 15 appearances this season. He has been replaced by Slavia Praha forward Peter Olayinka.

Serie A star, Osimhen, whose place has been replaced by Olympiacos's Henry Onyekuru, has been a subject of intense debate following the horror injury he suffered back in November.

However, Osimhen will not be in Cameroon after he tested positive for the deadly COVID-19 virus.

Meanwhile, defenders, Balogun and Abdullahi, have been ruled out due to injuries with Venezia full-back, Ebuehi and Semi Ajayi of WBA called up as replacements.

The 2021 AFCON kicks off on January 9. 2022, with the Super Eagles taking on Egypt two days later.
