Egypt’s national coach Carlos Queiroz says there is the possibility of Guinea-Bissau beating the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their AFCON 2021 Group D game on Wednesday.
AFCON 2021: Egyptian coach believes Guinea-Bissau can stun Super Eagles
Egyptian head coach Carlos Queiroz believes the Super Eagles might be in for a shock in their final group game.
The Portuguese tactician believes if Guinea-Bissau performs as they did against Egypt, they can shock the Eagles.
Mama Balde equalised for Guinea-Bissau, cancelling out a Mohamed Salah opener, but it was harshly overturned by VAR, because of a perceived foul in the buildup to the goal.
Even with the goal cancelled, the Djurtus were relentless in their press and took the game to Egypt, eventually losing the tie by a single goal.
Queiroz believes that the Guinea-Bissau side can trouble anyone when they get into their stride.
“Guinea-Bissau gave us a headache in the whole game, I think if they play like that against Nigeria they can win the game,” he said in his post-match presser.
Egypt will play Sudan in their final group game today hoping to join Nigeria if they get all three points.
The Super Eagles Interim coach Augustine Eguavoen is wary of the Guinea threat and has said the Eagles will not take their foot off the pedal against their opposition on the night.
The Eagles kick off against Guinea-Bissau at 8 pm on Wednesday 19 January in Garoua.
