The Super Eagles recorded a 1-1 draw in the first leg against Egypt in Kaduna on Friday, March 25, and lost 0-1 in the second.
The loss with the withdrawal of Chad from the qualifiers meant that Nigeria are out of the race to qualify for the 2017 AFCON.
Speaking after the loss in Alexandria on Tuesday, March 30 Siasia says his disappointment at loss but says he is proud of the effort put in by his players over the two legged fixture.
“We are very disappointed. We couldn’t do it,” the interim coach said.
“We inherited a broken team, but we worked so hard, but it was not to be. I’m proud of the boys. We were not lucky right from the first game in Kaduna. And God knows why. We thank Nigerians for their support.”
