Nigeria to face England in friendly game on June 2
A Nigeria and England friendly game has been confirmed ahead of the World Cup.
For the 2018 World Cup, Nigeria have been drawn in Group D with Argentina, Iceland and Croati while England are in Group G with Belgium, Tunisia and England.
Just a few weeks before the World Cup in Russia, both countries will clash in a friendly game to prepare for the tournament.
This friendly game has been confirmed by England manager England manager Gareth Southgate.
"We're going into a World Cup where we will play African and Central American opposition, so we get that with the games against Nigeria and Costa Rica, but it's not just about the games we've got in the group but hopefully beyond that as well,” the England manager is quoted to say by.
"We want to expose the team to different styles and different experiences."
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are yet to make a statement on the friendly game.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will kick off their 2018 World Cup campaign on June 16 against Croatia while England’s first game will be against Tunisia on June 14.
The friendly against England is a view to preparing the Super Eagles for their Group Match with Iceland and maybe Croatia.
Nigeria Vs England head to head
Nigeria have only played England twice in the senior stage, losing 1-0 in a friendly game in November 1994 and holding the Three Lions to a goalless draw in a 2002 FIFA World Cup Group match.
This is the second friendly that has been confirmed for the Super Eagles ahead of the World Cup.
