Keshi who won two African Cup of Nations twice with Nigeria- one as a player and the other as a coach- passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, June 8, 2016 in Benin City, Edo State.

According to , the funeral ceremony of the late Keshi is expected to commence this week with meetings to be held with various strata of government.

The report states that the 54-year-old will be buried in his ancestral home of Illah, in Delta state, with the Federal Government, Edo, Delta and Cross River state governments all ready to play a part in the ceremony.
