Keshi joined his former teammates Rashidi Yekini, Uche Okafor, Wilfried Agbonavbare and Thompson Oliha in the afterlife on Wednesday, June 8.

The former defender died from a cardiac arrest at his family house in Edo State

Keshi was the captain of the team under Clemens Westerhof that went all the way to win the title.

He played a major part in Super Eagles defence that conceded just three goals on the path to victory.

The first player from that team that died was Uche Okafor who was found hanging at his Dallas, Texas home in January 2011. A preliminary report by the Dallas police ruled that the former defender hanged himself.

Next was Yekini, who finished highest goal scorer at Tunisia 94 and was named best player of the competition.

Oliha died due to complications from malaria in June 2013. At the time of his death he was an assistant coach for the Kwara Football Academy.

Agbonavbare was the back-up goalkeeper to first choice Peter Rufai at Tunisia 94. He died of cancer in January 2015.
