A spokesperson for the minister advised the media to ensure factual reporting as opposed to what currently obtains.
Speaking on behalf of the minister, Danmallam pleaded with sports journalists to ensure that they give accurate reporting of happenings as opposed to giving unconfirmed and malicious news to the public, Daily Post reports.
“This is another blackmail and a very cheap one at that and it is very unfortunate that some members of the media have decided to continue to run malicious stories on the Nigeria sports ministry and its efforts to ensure team Nigeria is well represented at the ongoing Olympic games.
“The records are there for everyone to see on how many persons were in the ministry’s delegation to Rio and the ministry has only cater for only those who have business at the games in Brazil.
“The minister will want to appeal to the sporting media not to be bias and malicious in their reportage just because they are looking for what will sell.”
It has not been a bad outing for the Nigerian Dream Team VI, who have had a decent outing so far.
Led by coach Samson Siasia, the players representing the men football team have displayed an amazing performance with a recent two nil defeat of Denmark.
