Why FIFA, CAF Suspended Nigeria’s Ban

FIFA, together with CAF confirmed that the game between Nigeria and South Africa would go on as the Giwa stepped down for Maigari to assume position

Following a late move on Monday by warring factions in the Nigeria Football Federation to avoid a clampdown from CAF and FIFA which would have stripped Nigeria of its place in the ongoing AFCON qualifiers; the country has avoided what would have been a fatal blow to its football

Giwa stepped down whilst Maigari too over.

The two bodies did however, caution that the Electoral Congress scheduled for September 25 take place without any external interference prior to the election.

There are contrary reports on Tuesday that deposed president Chris Giwa went to the Court of Arbitration of Sports which has halted FIFA's decision on Nigeria
