The coach of Nigeria's under-23 football team Samson Siasia has sent out an appeal to the gunmen who kidnapped his mum to return her in good health.

According to several reports, the aged mother of the former Super Eagles coach Madam Ogere Siasia was abducted from her house in Odoni village, Saghama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The reports revealed that unknown identified gunmen in the early hours of Monday, November 16 forced their way through the back door and took the woman before fleeing with a motorbike.

Siasia is currently in Gambia where he is preparing the Nigeria U-23 team for the African U-23 Championship billed for Senegal.

Speaking from Gambia, Siasia appealed to the abductors to release his 72-year-old mother.

"We've already reported the incident to the police in Bayelsa but I only beg them to please release her unhurt," Siasia told BBC Sport.

"I was told they shot sporadically into the air before taking her away on a motorcycle," Siasia said.

"We've not heard from them to know their motive, but right now I'm only concerned about her safety."
