Osita Okeke, Chairman, Nigeria Football Supporters Club, South Africa Chapter, says the Super Eagles has the potential to qualify for Russia 2018 World Cup.

Okeke, who said he was confident because of the Eagles’ win against Zambia, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Johannesburg, South Africa that the win was a good start for them.

“The members of the football supporters club in South Africa are happy with the good beginning. We urge the team to continue with the fine run to qualify for the World Cup.

“We are equally aware that the group is a tough one, but we are optimistic that the Eagles will make it,’’ he said.

Okeke called on the supporters club at home to give the Eagles the maximum support in all qualifying matches to motivate them.

According to him, the NFF should work hard to motivate the team in their matches and avoid any distractions.

“I also appeal to the Federal Government to assist the team in this crucial period because they are blessed with good players.

“The current Super Eagles’ team is good. They do not need any distractions now, rather, they should be encouraged to win their matches to qualify for the World Cup,’’ he said.

Okeke said that the Supporters Club in South Africa would continue to pray for the success of the Eagles.

“We prayed for the success of the team during the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and they won the cup. We also prayed for them at the 2014 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) and they won the third place.

“We believe also that our prayers will be answered for the 2018 World Cup,’’ he said.
