1. West Brom 3 Vs Arsenal 1: Arsenal players no longer playing for Wenger
With all the heat on Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, their 3-0 loss at West Brom shows the players have a bigger role to play in their recent poor form. The Gunners lacked determination, desire and fight and show traits of players not ready to play for the manager.
With Wenger on the end of vile criticism from fans and pundits, it was down to the players to play for him. Show some desire and passion on the pitch to at least take their manager out of the firing line. But that didn’t happen.
When players are tired of a manager, they can voice their concerns to the people upstairs and get him fired. But not at Arsenal. Arsene Wenger is the boss. He controls everything, so nobody to complain to.
2. Stoke City 1 Vs Chelsea 2: Cahill has done well to replace John Terry
With John Terry out of Chelsea’s starting XI this season, Gary Cahill has stepped up to be that leader. Cahill who was not rated highly by most Chelsea fans had a couple of shaky moments earlier this season. But the 31-year-old has become one of Chelsea’s most important players this season with some crucial goals.
He caused the penalty for Stoke City’s equaliser but he made up for it with the winning goal to give Chelsea the three points.
While Terry continues to be influential off the pitch, Cahill has picked up the armband to become Chelsea’s leader on it.
3. Everton 4 Vs Hull City: Everton on the cusp of joining the elite, but need Lukaku
Everton blew Hull City away 4-0 to continue their fine form which saw them in seventh place, level on points with Arsenal. The Ronald Koeman’s side are gradually showing that they can rub shoulders with Premier League elite sides. That has been the vision; that was Koeman left Southampton for Everton.
They, however, need to keep hold of Romelu Lukaku who has become the first Everton player to score 20 goals in a Premier League season. He has turned down a new contract offer from Everton, questioning their ambition. For Everton to achieve their vision, they must do all they can to keep the striker.
4. Manchester City 1 Vs Liverpool 1: Klopp’s men deserve top four finish
Liverpool played out a 1-1 draw away at Manchester City to make sure they do not lose any game against the top six teams this season. They deserve a top four finish for that. Of course, they have their problems against the lower teams but against Manchester City at the Etihad, Jurgen Klopp’s side was brilliant in the game that could have gone either way.
Arsenal, Tottenham, even Chelsea despite winning, were outplayed by City at the Etihad. Liverpool, however, proved too tough and showed why they should finish in the Champions League places.
5. Tottenham Vs Southampton: Spurs miss Kane
ALSO READ: Tottenham win without Kane
Tottenham were comfortable in their 2-1 win over Southampton but missed Harry Kane who is out with an ankle injury. Kane’s ability to score from half chances has helped Spurs this season and against Southampton, it was obvious something crucial was missing.
How they cope in Kane’s absence will determine their season.
