Paul Pogba Manchester United midfielder wins first Europa League Player of the Year award

Managers of the 48 clubs involved in last season's competition and 55 journalists voted Pogba as the winner.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is the first player to win the Europa League Player of the Year award which has just been introduced by UEFA.

Pogba won the Europa League title last season with Manchester United, making 15 appearances and scoring three goals including the opener in United’s 2-0 win over Ajax in the final.

UEFA announced the midfielder as the winner via video at the Europa League group draw stage in Monaco on Friday, August 25.

The Europa League Squad of the season was also announced with Pogba and his Manchester United teammates dominating.

 

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Sergio Romero, Antonio Valencia, Daley Blind and Ander Herrera are all in the 18-man selection.
