Osimhen is the best of this generation, but not a renowned finisher like Yekini

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen who currently play for SS Napoli of Italy is in the best form of life at the moment.

Victor Oshimen

The 22-year-old old striker stole the headline after netting Napoli's winner over Torino at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium last Sunday.

The goal took Osimhen's tally to nine goals in his last eight games for the Luciano Spalleti's tutored side this season, and he's one short of his last season's tally.

Nigeria is blessed with many strikers who are also playing well in Europe, but none of them is a match to Victor Osimhen at the moment.

The likes of Taiwo Awoniyi, Umar Sadiq, Paul Onuachu and Simy Nwankwo have been consistent in Europe; however, they found National team opportunities difficult to come by and that's because a certain Osimhen is ahead.

With his recent performances for Club and Country, I can boldly say, the Napoli of Italy goals poacher, could effectively monopolize Super Eagles striking position like Rashidi Yekini did.

Rashidi Yekini was a clinical finisher in his days. In every game, he was vicious. He was a killer, he always had an insatiable hunger for goals. He was the heart and soul of the team, the coach couldn't afford to leave of the team for a friendly game or a competitive one.

Furthermore, he scored most of the important goals for Nigeria, led the country to the FIFA World Cup for the first time and won the with an Afcon gold in 1994.

However, since Yekini exited the scene, Nigeria has not produced a striker with unique qualities, until the emergence of Osimhen.

Osimhen didn't just share many qualities with Yekini, he has the same story somehow with the African Cup of Nations goal king.

Like Yekini, Osimhen started his career on the street and was taken out of poverty by football. Osimhen has the hunger and desire to score in every game.

He's a wild predator who is very clinical and that's the reason, many have tipped him to break Yekini's record in the color of the Super Eagles.

Osimhen is a tireless runner who press opposition defenders into mistakes. His goal against Cape Verde in Mindelo was a clear example, he chased the defenders and was at the right place to tap home the ball when the ball fell kindly for him.

After replacing Odion Ighalo as Super Eagles first choice, the 22-year-old has seven goals in fourteen appearances, and he's the quickest to reach that number.

It is safe to say Osimhen is the best in his generation, but he has to do a lot more do to catch up with Yekini and possibly join him on the list of Nigeria’s greatest strikers .
