Odion Ighalo Watford striker to be honoured by Edo State

Odion Ighalo’s exploits for Watford has been recognised by his home state, Edo State and is set to honoured at a ceremony on Wednesday, December 30.

The striker has been in form for Watford this season, scoring an impressive 10 Premier League goals so far and will be honoured alongside Golden Eaglets star from the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup Victor Osimhen and coach of Enyimba, Kadiri Ikhana.

Osimhen will be honoured for his feats at the just concluded World Cup where he created a record of the most goals scored in that tournament- 10 goals which made him the highest goalscorer.

Ikhana will also be honoured at the lavish ceremony which will hold at the Oba Akenzua Cultural Centre, Benin City, for leading Enyimba to their seventh Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title.

Ighalo will not be at the event due to the busy Christmas fixtures in the Premier League but will be represented by his wife.

Chairman of Edo Football Association, Frank Ilaboya, said the ceremony is organized to celebrate Edo indigenes who have contributed to the development of football with their outstanding achievements.
