The NPFL Super4 tournament kicks off on Wednesday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu by 4 pm.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the NPFL Super4 tournament would commence on Wednesday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu by 4 p.m.
The chairman of the forum, Ike Ugwu, told NAN on Tuesday that the forum had employed the services of some mobile public address system operators to publicise the tournament within Enugu and its environs.
Ugwu revealed that the forum had also deployed the services of town criers in the outskirt communities of Enugu to inform the people about the football fiesta.
“These massive publicity we are deploying is to ensure that our team, Rangers FC, gets the maximum home support.
“As well, the team needs crowd-support to intimidate its opponents and ensure victory in each match.
“We will also add some side attractions outside the stadium to ensure that football lovers have a memorable evening anytime they come to watch matches,’’ Ugwu said.
Ugwu, whose forum is the umbrella body of Rangers fans and supporters, however, revealed that the forum was optimistic that the team would lift the tournament’s trophy.
“Considering the time and investment made by the Enugu State Government and other stakeholders like us; we deserve nothing but victory from Rangers as a payback,’’ he said.
NAN reports that the four national league club’s tournament, which would be played under the floodlight at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium – the Cathedral – would end on Dec. 11.
The clubs are Rangers International FC of Enugu; Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt, FC Ifeanyi Ubah of Nnewi and Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi.
The tournament’s organiser, the League Management Company (LMC), has released the fixtures for the five-day soccer fiesta.
Wikki Tourists FC and FC Ifeanyi Ubah are billed to play the opening match, while Rangers will square up with Rivers United in the second match of the day.
