Niger Tornadoes boost their NPFL survival bid as they continued their fine home run, beating Akwa United 3-0.
In the game which was played on Tuesday, August 16, Coach Abubakar Bala side took the lead in the 32nd minute through Lukman Mohammed who pounced on a defensive blunder to score.
Tornadoes continued their dominance in the second half and doubled their lead in the 55th minute as Kunle Issa headed a corner past Bassey Akpan.
A third goal came in the 62nd minute from the penalty spot through Solomon Owello after Hussaini Isah had been bundled down in the box.
Coach Bala of Tornadoes says his boys stuck to the game plan and carried out his orders.
Speaking about the win which boosted Tornadoes' NPFL survival bid, Bala also said they were aware of the threat that Akwa possessed from their 2-0 loss when they met in the first leg.
The Minna Warlords play Ikorodu United in matchday 22.
“We are reviewing our last matches played away and studying them to see why we are yet to pick points on the road so that we fix them before the league ends," Bala said.
“Am not happy that we are yet pick points at away matches while some teams have gotten points on the road from us, we working hard to see that we get these points and solidify our NPFL stay. And hope we get the points”, he said.
