John Fashanu poured cold water on the long talk that he refused to play for Nigeria during his active days.
The Nigerian-Guyanese descent only capped twice for the Three Lions of England, an appearance record he would have surpassed in the Green-White-Green jersey.
According to the 53 year-old, he was rejected by the then coach, Otto Gloria.
'The fact is that I really wanted to play for Nigeria and I came home on three occasions but the coach said I was not good enough to make his team, and so never selected me except for one friendly match against China where I was an unused substitute.
'So, it was never my fault at all and it pained me so much that I never played for my country,’ Fashanu said.
