The stage is set for what could turn out to be an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) classic as Nigeria take on South Africa in the quarterfinals of AFCON 2019.

After beating Cameroon in the round-of-16, Nigeria will at the Cairo International Stadium take on South Africa who dumped out hosts Egypt with a 1-0 win.

This game is the latest in the grudge match between the two countries, a rivalry that started out of a political tussle

While Nigeria have had the upper hand head to head, the Super Eagles have failed to beat the Bafana Bafana in a competitive game for almost 11 years.

Stay glued to this page for what could turn out to be a very lively match.

Starting XI

Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr has chosen to give Villarreal star Samuel Chukwueze a start while Germany-based left back Jamilu Collins returns.

After starting Nigeria’s first game of AFCON 2019, Chukwueze has been called up for the bench in two of Nigeria’s games but stayed on the bench all through in Super Eagles’ third group, which was the 2-0 loss to Madagascar.
