Legendary boxer confirms his love for Benfica

Mike Tyson has once again shown that he is a Benfica fan after he was seen in the club's kit during a friendly in New York


Boxing legend Mike Tyson is a Benfica fan.

The former boxer was at the Big Apple to watch Benfica's International Champions Cup match against New York Red Bulls on Sunday, July 26.

Tyson who is a New Yorker however shunned New York Red Bulls to don the kit of Benfica and posed for a photo with the team.

Tyson's club lost the game 1-2 to the home team New York Red Bulls.

The 49-year-old has previously spoken of his love for the Portuguese club.

"It's been many years, but I still have that sweater at home. It was offered by a friend of mine, a son of Portuguese immigrants in the United States," Tyson said in an interview with Diario O Jogo.

"He always spoke to me about Benfica and his passion for the club, so I was curious. I've read about the story of the Glorious (Benfica's nickname)."

Tyson showed that he follows the club when he took to his Twitter account to post a RIP message after the death of Benfica legend Eusebio.

"R. I. P. Eusebio Black Panther BENFICA forever," he tweeted.
