Manchester City continued with their blistering form this season, scoring two second half goals to defeat Watford 2-0.

The 2013 winners have been doing everything right both on the pitch and off it to wrestle the English Premier League title away from Jose Mourinho's Chelsea.

Newly-promoted Watford were well-organised and deservedly went into the half-time break goalless.

City however return and got the lead just two minutes after the break from Raheem Sterling who scored his first League goal since his big money move from Liverpool.

The forward volloyed a cross from Bacary Sagna to end a end a 10-league-game scoreless streak stretching back to his Liverpool days in mid-April.

Sterling also had two good efforts on goal  blocked and one saved by Gomes and was cheered when he diligently tracked back to stop a breakaway from Watford forward Odion Ighalo.

Watford however gave a good account of themselves in their first defeat of the season after draws against Everton, West Brom and Southampton.

The impressive David Silva was at it again in City's second in the 57th minute.

Fernandinho reacted quickly to a charged down Yaya Toure freekick, heading to Silva who played a fantastic return ball for the Brazilian midfielder to angle a fierce drive to beat Gomes.
