Lionel Messi head butted an opposition player during Barcelona and Roma clash at Nou Camp on Wednesday
Is rare to see Lionel Messi losing his temper on the field of play, but that happened on Wednesday, August 5 during a pre-friendly game between Barcelona and Roma.
Roma midfielder Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa was angry over an incident with Messi and leaned his head towards him, making contact.
An infuriated Messi responded by headbutting the former Newcastle player and grabbing him by the throat.
The four time Ballon d'Or winner was lucky to escape a sending off but was instead shown a yellow card.
Messi went on to double Barcelona's lead in the 3-0 victory, rifling into in to the net with a vicious curling shot.
The game was for the 50th Gamper Trophy - Barcelona's traditional friendly curtain raiser in honour of the club's founder.
