NBA star LeBron James and football sensation Kylian Mbappe met up in Paris where they had a conversation about their careers.
This summer, James underwent the More Than An Athlete international tour which took him to Paris.
In Paris, he had the opportunity of meeting Mbappe, who was fresh off helping France to win the 2018 FIFA World Cup title in Russia.
In a video released by Nike, the athletes discuss their rise in their respective sports.
Both athletes are very similar in that their ingenuities were very obvious from an early stage trusting them immediately to the limelight.
Speaking on how they cope with the limelight at such early ages, James says the biggest change for him was that everything he did ‘became magnified’.
“That’s a very challenging and difficult situation for an 18-year-old,” the La Lakers star says.
“One day you can be able to say what you want to say and do whatever you want to do, walk the streets, go to the movies and then the next day you are put on the world stage to be somebody you can’t afford to be at that time."
For Mbappe, it’s the responsibilities that come with the limelight that is most challenging.
“You have to deal with professionalism and you are asked to behave like an adult,” the Paris Saint-Germain forward says.
It was an interesting conversation that also touch on their positions as role models and people who influence culture.
James was impressed with Mbappe saying at the end; “It’s not many 18-year-olds that I can sleep next to and have a great conversation. He’s not a regular 18-year-old,” James says.
