Midfielder nearing Manchester City switch

According to reports, Manchester City has agreed a transfer fee with Wolfsburg but are still to finalise the deal to sign the midfielder.

Manchester City are reportedly on the verge of landing a long time target, Kevin De Bruyne  from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.

According to reports from local media in Germany, City has agreed a transfer fee with Wolfsburg but are still to finalise the deal to sign the midfielder.

De Bruyne's agent, Patrick De Koster, was said to have met with Wolfsburg officials at the club’s training ground and requested for the transfer to be resolved before Friday, August 28.

Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs, who have been insisting on selling the Belgium international, has softened his stand after speaking with the player who pleaded to be allowed to make the move.

Allofs is set to meet his City counterpart, Txiki Begiristain, at the UEFA Champions League draw on Thursday to thrash out terms.

Several reports insist that sources from the Etihad suggest that they are confident of landing of the most sought after attacking midfielder in the world for a fee of around £54 million.

The deal would take the Premier League leaders' summer spending past the £150m mark, following the arrivals of Raheem Sterling, Nicolas Otamendi, Fabian Delph and Patrick Roberts.
