Kelechi is the captain of the Golden Eaglets squad that successful defended the beating Mali 2-0 on Sunday, November 8 in the final.

A product of the ASJ Academy in Owerri, Kelechi led the team from midfielder with his keen eye for a pass and his impressive shooting.

He made the highest number of pass in the completion, providing three goals and three assists.

City are said to be leading the race to sign the 17-year-old after watching him over the course of the World Cup.

His elder brother Chidiebere was signed by Manchester City along with Kelechi Iheanacho after their impressive outing for Golden Eaglets as they won the U-17 World Cup in 2013.

While Iheanacho has been promoted to the first team of City, Chidiebere is still with the developmental squad.

Kelechi is a huge admirer of Manchester City midfielder, Yaya Toure.

"I love watching him play because he loves to win," he told.

"That's all he wants. You can see it in the way he plays, the way he runs and even in the way he walks on the pitch."
