Jose Mourinho is not backing down of his decision to bar club doctor away from his bench despite criticism from every corner
Despite pressure from the media, club owner Roman Abramovich, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is refusing to reinstate team doctor Eva Carneiro after last week's fall out.
Carneiro and Mourinho had the now famous row during Chelsea Saturday, August 8 2-2 home draw with Swansea.
Mourinho fumed at the medical team for going on to the pitch to attend to Eden Hazard without knowing the extent of his injury.
According to the rules, an outfield player must ushered out of the pitch after treatment and wait for the referee's permission before he can re-enter the pitch.
After the incident, Carneiro was barred from working during Chelsea's games.
According to Daily Mail, this is not the first time Mourinho is clashing with the doctor who joined Chelsea in 2009.
Abramovich is said to be furious with Mourinho for the controversies the row with with Carneiro has caused as the doctor is looking to sue Mourinho over her treatement.
Carneiro is seeking both a public apology and legal advice with a view to possibly suing the club for constructive dismissal in what could put the club in bad light.
The Premier League doctors’ group released a statement branding Mourinho's treatment of the doctor ‘unjust in the extreme’.
"Removing Eva Carneiro from the Chelsea bench is unjust in the extreme," their statement read.
"In the incident against Swansea, the Chelsea medical staff were clearly summoned on by the referee to attend to a player.
"A refusal to run on to the pitch would have breached the duty of care of the medical team to their patient.
"It is a huge concern that Dr Carneiro has been subjected to unprecedented media scrutiny and a change in her professional role, merely because she adhered to her code of professional conduct and did her job properly.
"Dr Carneiro has universal and total support from her medical colleagues at the Premier League Doctors Group."
