Jose Mourinho says he thought defender was 'finished'

Jjose Mourinho says he feared his captain was in decline when he was returning as Chelsea coach in 2013


Jose Mourinho has revealed  that he had doubts over the form of Chelsea captain John Terry when he returned two years ago.

Terry was not use regularly by the interim manager at that time, Rafa Benitezwho thought that the defender was in decline.

The defender however has become the main part of Chelsea title winning team playing every minute of their league win last season.

Terry’s superb form saw him named in the PFA team of the season and Mourinho called it a ‘phenomenal’ campaign.

"When I came, I came with that question mark: ‘Which John am I going to find?’ What can he do? Can he improve? Can he become close to the John I know?" Mourinho told .

"And last season was phenomenal. Phenomenal. I think the best season."

Mournho hopes that Terry will continue his good form when Chelsea face Arsenal on Sunday, August 2 in the Charity Sheild.
