Chelsea coach, Conte wants midfielder to remain at Chelsea

Mikel Obi's representatives have revealed that Antonio Conte wants the Super Eagles captain at the club.

 

With Conte coming in as new coach and the signing of midfielder, N'Golo Kante from Leicester City, exit reports trailed Mikel Obi who has spent 10 years at Chelsea.

The reports can now go to bed as the midfielder’s representatives have revealed that Conte wants the Super Eagles captain at the club.

Mikel’s reps spoke though ace Nigerian sports journalist Oluwashina Okeleji.

“Conte wants him to stay at the club and he’s also off to the Olympics,” Okeleji told Turkish-football.com.

There have been reports that Chelsea have accepted a bid from Turkey giants, Besiktas giant for the 29-year-old.

“There’s nothing to the Besiktas story,” Okeleji added.

Mikel who has another year remaining on his contract has been fully involved in Chelsea pre-season under Conte.

The midfielder made the starting XI and played all 90 minutes on Saturday, July 16 as Chelsea fell 2-0 to Rapid Vienna in a pre-season game.
