Team Nigeria will be without its captain, John Mikel Obi to wave the country’s flag during the opening ceremony of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

During the opening ceremony, captain of each country is expected to wave their flags.

For Nigeria however assistant captain, Olufunke Oshonaike will wave the Green, White, Green flag following the absent of captain, Mikel.

Mikel is expected to still be on his way to Manaus during the open ceremony of Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

 

The midfielder and his Dream Team VI mates have finally departed Atlanta where they have been camping ahead of the Games.

According to the schedule of the Sports Ministry, the Nigeria’s U-23 team were to travel via a chartered flight to Manaus on the night of Tuesday, August 2.

Pulse Sports however learnt that the team was delayed in the United States after the Sports Ministry’s fund transfer system failed.
