Captain of the Nigeria U-23 side, John Mikel Obi has reacted to their 2-0 defeat to Germany in the semi-finals of the football event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

A Lukas Klostermann’s 10th-minute goal and a late strike by Nils Petersen were all Germany needed to progress to the final at the expense of Nigeria.

Speaking of the game, Mikel refused to admit that the Germans were superior to the Dream Team VI blaming bad luck for the defeat.

"We gave everything last night but luck wasn't on our side," Mikel reacted via Twitter.

"We will keep going for bronze, to make Nigeria proud."

Mikel and his teammates will have a chance to win a medal for Nigeria as they face Honduras on Saturday, August 20 in the third place game.
