Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes Kylian Mbappe should move to Real Madrid because of its better structure

Zlatan Ibrahimovic advised Kylian Mbappe to pick Real Madrid over Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona

AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed that he advised Kylian Mbappe to leave Paris Saint-Germain for a 'better-structured' team. The 40-year-old striker went further to admit that he suggested a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid to the PSG star.

Two of the Swedish star's former clubs, Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona, would not be particularly pleased with Ibrahimovic's advice. The French side are frantically trying to keep Mbappe at the club but have been done no favours by the Swede star who played at the Parc des Princes between 2012 and 2016.

Ibrahimovic confirmed his stance on the lingering Mbappe transfer saga whilst speaking with Italian media outlet Corriere della Sera.

"It is true that I told Kylian Mbappe he should leave PSG. He needs a more structured environment like the one at Real Madrid," the Milan forward said.

By touting the Santiago Bernabeu as an ideal destination for World Cup-winner Mbappe, Ibrahimovic also shot down the chances of FC Barcelona going for the 22-year-old star if he becomes a free agent by next summer. Ibrahimovic had a short but fractious spell at Camp Nou between 2009 and 2011.

However, the well-travelled striker also gave a hint of hope that Mbappe might be staying with Paris Saint-Germain as he confirmed that he told the French club's President to not sell the 22-year-old, presumably last summer.

"However, I also advised the PSG president not to sell him," Ibrahimovic confirmed.

Mbappe was the subject of a world-record €220m bid from Real Madrid a few days before the 2021 summer transfer window shut but PSG knocked back the Spanish side in the hope that the former Monaco star would renew his contract. Mbappe's current contract expires in June 2022 and he would be free to talk to other clubs and sign a pre-contract agreement by 1st January 2022. Many expect Real Madrid to be the next destination for the French superstar.
