After passing a two-week trial with Spartak Moscow, Obaje failed a medicals which collapsed his move to the club.
Obaje netted 18 goals in the 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season helping Wikki to a third place finish.
The move, however, collapsed after the striker reportedly failed his medicals.
“Obaje did enough in the trials to get a contract, but Spartak did not give him one because his medical revealed some issues,” a source told African Sports.
“The Russians are very thorough about their medical and so passed off the chance to sign the player.
“That was really why he is back in Nigeria without a contract.”
Obaje will now assess other options available to him.
