Arsenal midfielder ruled out for two months

Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin has been ruled out for two weeks with a knee ligament sustained in Saturday, November 21 league clash against West Brom.

The 24-year-old last just 14 minutes at the Hawthorns where Arsenal were beaten by West Brom 2-1.

“It is a least two months but I'm cautious as we had so many bad surprises on scans that I do not want to speculate more than that. Certainly for the next two months we play without Coquelin,” Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash with Dinamo Zaagreb.

Wenger’s failure to add an outfield player in the summer transfer window seems to have caught up with him but the manager insists he has players to replace Coquelin.

“It is of course a disappointment to lose him in the longer term but we have in the squad the players who can compensate,” Wenger assures.

“We have lost a player of quality for a while but we know that can happen.

“I will give myself time, we have players who play in this position likeand players who can play there like .

“Sometimes this is a good opportunity for other players to turn up and do the job. I will do what is needed in January, knowing as well it is not an ideal transfer market.”
